I absolutely love doing hands on arts and crafts projects and been wanting to bling out cell phone cases to possibly sell or giveaway. I wanted to start small to practice and like I've mentioned in a previous entry, Daiso sells their eyelash cases for only $1.50
.I ordered rhinestones and flat back pieces from eBay at a really low price, I got the jewel setters on Amazon for $2, and the glue and some other flat back pieces at a local arts/crafts store. If you have any old jewelry or chunky deco pieces from whatever that have fallen off, save it! You can always use it for fun projects like this! ツ I also find it much easier to use needle nose tweezers rather than flat edge ones. And the jewel setter is basically a ball of wax at the end of a stick. You can choose to use it or not. It does leave an ugly residue mark on your rhinestones, but you can always wipe that away once your glue has set.
You always want to apply/ glue on the biggest pieces first and work your way to the smaller ones and then add the rhinestones after you're done with that. For here I used 2mm in AB rhinestones (which is pretty darn small, but smaller looks much better! It just takes longer). I believe the AB giving it a swarovski shine to them. I haven't invested in actual swarovski crystals just yet because those are freaking expensive and I want to make sure I'm pro before I do that. ツ But anyways..
Ta-da! ❤
The finished product!
It's not the best, but I think it's pretty darn good for my first attempt EVER! I even sealed it with a top coat nail polish. If you look extra closely, it has some lumps here and there, but nothing too noticeable.Anyways, I promised more giveaways and I won't be able to do too many in the next couple months just because I'll be busy for the holidays and more preparations for baby Ethan's arrival! But the last giveaway was such a success and everyone has been so sweet and supportive that I want to squeeze another in here before I get too wrapped up.
I've saved a couple of upcoming beauty posts, so I'll post those when I can, but I probably won't be doing too much spontaneous personal blogging for a while.
So I've decided what better way to show some love and appreciation by giving away something I handmade myself! You'll be winning this blinged out Hello Kitty eyelash case with some more eyelash essentials! So stay tuned for that in my next entry! ❤
It's really cute... ^^

ReplyDeleteWahhh so kawaii! I've been wanting to do this too but I've been so busy ):
ReplyDeleteJen, these are AWESOME! I always end up sticking my lashes in the cases they came in after I use 'em but they are so ugly and plastic :( This is a great alternative and they'd make perfect and affordable gifts! Definitely keep me posted about whether or not you're going to try to sell these because I'm definitely interested!
ReplyDeleteAww, you're so sweet! I'll keep you posted, but I'll probably just send you one just for the heck of it when I make another! :) I'll let you know when I dooo!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've been so busy too! LOL, this took me so long to finish because I just work on it when I DO have the time. Hahaa, I've had all these things for months, but only finished ONE thing. SADD! Hahhaa
ReplyDeleteAwwww, thanks Sarah!!! Makes me motivated to make more and give them away!!
ReplyDeletewow I am seriously shocked that this is your FIRST? attempt?!?! It looks AMAZING!!! I've always wanted to try to make a deco cell phone case and other stuff, since these crystals make cases look so cute! ^^
ReplyDeleteYup! Not too bad, right?? :D I wanna give cell phone cases a try, but need to find some good clear hard covers first. Man, this took a while, so I can only imagine how long a cell phone case would take.. -___- lol

ReplyDeleteOmg extreme bedazzled arts and crafts. Love it. You did such a great job Jen. I bedazzled my phone once and it ended up looking more messy then blinged out. Looking forward to your next few posts.
ReplyDeleteReally.. your first attempt? Godamn woman, is there ANYTHING you're not naturally good at?! T____T;; It's so.... pretty. I've tried like, once & gay up coz it looked ugly &I ran outta rhinestones halfway through XD Could you list the eBay sellers you used? ^___^

ReplyDeleteNow that's dedication! I once blinged out my phone case and I think it took me somewhere along the lines of four hours. >< So fulfilling though haha
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job!
Girl, I have that same problem too! Ugh! And I feel the glue dries or gets chunky too fast. :/ I wanna see the results so please DOOO POST when you're done!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Fannieeeee! :D I've had the same problem! I think I need to use a different glue.. :P
ReplyDeleteAWWWWWWW, Jen, you're too kind! And yes!!! I shall list the eBay sellers (hopefully I have them saved!!) and let you know!!! :DDD
ReplyDeleteTHANK you, DONNNNAAAA!<3
ReplyDeleteLOL, I'm probably one of the most impatient people ever with everything else, but when it comes to arts and crafts, I'm very patient. So weird! LOL, but I do get bored easily, so I'll quite after a little and then when I feel like it, work on it again. :P Thanks, Banny!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! LOL. This took me longer than expected because I'd stop after a little and work on it again once I'm in the mood. I'm glad I worked on something small for my first time! A phone case would have taken me FOREVERRR! Hahaha~
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy addictive though imho! It's good to take breaks though, it can get frustrating.
ReplyDeleteAww cute!! I like it and it's HK!! :) Can't wait to see more.

ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet!! This is definitely nowhere near perfect enough to SELL, but maybe I'll just give them all away to people who actually like em! All the love is making me feel so motivated to make more!<3
ReplyDeleteThank you!! And Yes, I did! Someone suggested it and I like it so much better! It's so much easier to reply to people!! :D Can't believe I didn't use this earlier.
